ALTA 2024 CONFRENCE REPORT
We are very pleased to report that ALTA 2024, our 28th annual conference, was a huge success with our highest ever attendance of 390 including 32% from 23 countries! In particular, we were delighted to welcome Craig Wohlers and Sherry Johnson representing US based EnerTech who acquired the ALTA Conference in February this year. Craig is Executive Director, Conferences, while Sherry is Sr. Business Development Manager. Craig, who is pictured above together with Joan and I, presented an overview of EnerTech at a packed Conference Dinner on Tuesday evening, highlighting their synergy with ALTA especially in the area of Battery Technology.
The technical program commenced with our traditional 3-day Nickel-Cobalt-Copper (NCC) Conference followed by a new 2-Day Lithium-Battery Technology-Rare Earths (LBR) Conference reflecting key current and developing technology trends. Both Conferences featured an exceptional Keynote Address and there were a combined 67 high-quality presentations from 16 countries on a variety of process development and engineering topics. A highlight of each conference was the final Panel, a popular and invaluable feature of ALTA conferences.
A very special thanks to our Presenters, Panel Members, Session and Panel Chairs and Student Volunteers, who all played very important roles during the conference.
The Conference also included two highly topical Workshops. AVICENNE Energy, a Paris based consulting firm specializing in high growth technology markets, presented a Tutorial on the Rechargeable Battery Market and The Value Chain including Cathode, Anode and the metal needs: lithium, cobalt, nickel. Future Battery Industries CRC, based in Perth, presented a Lithium-Ion Battery Materials and Production Processes Masterclass, which explored Lithium-Ion Battery Materials, Cell and Battery production technology, Value Chains and Supply Chains, with a specific emphasis on lithium extraction, beneficiation and refining processes.
Many thanks to our Sponsors, Co-Sponsors and Exhibitors for their valuable support of the conference. The delegates made the most of the opportunities for networking and discussions with exhibitors in the 32 booth exhibition during program breaks, luncheons, Welcome Reception and Happy Hour functions, while the very well attended Conference Dinner provided a great atmosphere for informal networking on a more personal level .
We hope all the attendees enjoyed and benefited from ALTA 2024, and hope to see you all again in 2025 for another great ALTA event.
